Dubai's beaches are public and free, but the beach hotels have carved out private stretches of sand that, combined with their pool infrastructure and F&B offerings, create beach experiences that go well beyond simply having water nearby. The iconic Burj Al Arab beach, the One&Only's private marina-fronted shore, and the Atlantis's Aquaventure waterpark beach are each distinct experiences that justify their respective price points.
The Jumeirah Beach stretch — running roughly from Jumeirah 1 through to the Marina — is the most accessible and varied. Here you'll find the Jumeirah Al Qasr complex (which includes the legendary Burj Al Arab view from its private beach), the Bulgari Resort on its private island, and the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira with its architect-designed pools. This stretch is also home to the open public beach at Kite Beach, one of the city's best-maintained free beaches, near which several excellent mid-range hotels operate.
Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and the Marina area sit at the northern end of the beach strip and offer a more urban beach experience — The Walk at JBR is a 1.7km promenade of restaurants, cafes, and retail directly behind the sand. Caesars Palace Bluewaters, on the artificial Bluewaters Island, and Rixos Premium Dubai JBR are the anchor luxury properties here. The crowd at JBR is international and energetic — this is Dubai beach life at its most social.
The Palm Jumeirah offers the most exclusive beach hotel experience. The fronds provide genuinely private stretches of beach fronting the Gulf, and hotels like Atlantis The Royal, Anantara The Palm, and W Dubai The Palm have invested in extraordinary pool and beach infrastructure. The Palm's sheltered position means calmer water than the open Gulf beaches, and the views back toward Dubai's skyline are spectacular.
The best time for Dubai beach holidays is November through April, when temperatures sit between 20–30°C and the sea temperature is 22–25°C. Summer (June–September) is intensely hot but luxury beach hotels drop their rates by 30–50%, and the indoor and pool experiences remain excellent.
