The Aiguille du Midi cable car ascends from Chamonix town to 3,842 metres in 20 minutes — one of the most dramatic vertical ascents in the world — arriving at a summit station built onto a rock needle above the glaciers where the Blanc ridge walk, the Step into the Void glass box experience, and the continuation cable car across the Vallee Blanche to Courmayeur in Italy are all available.
