The best family hotels offer interconnecting rooms or suites, flexible dining hours, dedicated kids' clubs with qualified staff, child-safe pools, and a relaxed attitude to noise. Location matters too — proximity to attractions and easy transport links save hours of daily logistics with tired children.

Most hotel kids' clubs accept children from age 4 upwards, with some luxury resorts offering baby clubs from 12 months. Check individual hotel policies — some require children to be potty-trained, and most have maximum ages of 12-14. Teenage programmes are rarer but increasingly common at premium resorts.

Not necessarily. Many family hotels charge per room rather than per person, and children often stay free in parents' rooms up to certain ages (typically 12-16). Self-catering apartments and aparthotels can actually save money versus booking multiple rooms. All-inclusive family resorts offer the best cost predictability.
