- 4-star comfort
Caldey Island is a short ferry ride from Tenby harbour and is home to a Cistercian monastery of some 20 monks who maintain traditional religious life, produce Caldey perfume and chocolate, and welcome visitors to their island of dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and medieval priory ruins. The monastery shop and the old priory church at St Illtyd's are the main visitor points of interest. Hotels in Tenby are the only practical base for visiting Caldey Island, with regular summer ferry services operating from the harbour.
