Isola Bella — Beautiful Island — is a tiny nature reserve connected to the mainland at Taormina's Mazzaro Bay by a narrow sandbar that can be waded across in seconds, its rocky shores offering exceptional snorkelling in the crystal-clear Ionian Sea. The island and its surrounding marine reserve are protected as a natural monument, and the beach on either side of the sandbar is one of the most photographed spots in Sicily.
