Anthony Quinn Bay — officially Vagies Bay — on the northeast coast of Rhodes is a sheltered cove of exceptionally clear blue-green water lined with olive trees where the actor Anthony Quinn, who filmed The Guns of Navarone here in 1961, reportedly loved to swim and later owned the surrounding land. The double bay offers excellent snorkelling among rocks and sea caves, and the relatively small and shaded pebble beach provides a more intimate experience than the island's larger resorts. Hotels near Anthony Quinn Bay are based in Faliraki and the Kallithea area.
