Book the Real Alcázar and Cathedral online weeks in advance — both sell out entirely, and queue times without tickets can be two hours or more in peak season.
Tapas in Seville are still largely free with drinks in traditional bars — order a glass of Manzanilla or Cruzcampo at Bar El Comercial or Bar Las Teresas and a tapa appears. This culture is being eroded but survives in the Triana and Macarena quarters.
Flamenco: avoid the tourist tablaos near the Cathedral and instead book at Casa de la Memoria (15 €, outstanding intimacy) or El Palacio Andaluz for a professionally staged show. The best flamenco peñas are invitation-only — ask your hotel concierge.
April's Feria de Abril is an extraordinary week of casetas (tented parties), sherry, and traditional costume — but hotels triple in price and book out a year in advance. Semana Santa (Holy Week) is similarly spectacular and similarly packed.
Seville in July and August averages 37°C and peaks at 45°C. If you visit in summer, plan sightseeing before noon, siesta through the afternoon, and live like a local from 8 PM onwards when the city comes to life again.
